تدور أحداث الفيلم حول طالب يدرس في الجامعة الأميركية منطوي على نفسه ويعاني من بعض المشاكل مع والديه وفي النهاية يقتلهما. بعدها يبدأ الطبيب النفسي في مرحلة دراسة شخصية هذا الشاب لمدة 45 يوم لمعرفة هل هو مجنون أم لا ليتقرر بعدها وبناء على توصيات الطبيب ارساله إما إلى حبل المشنقة أو إلى المستشفى للعلاج.
